For all my friends who are NOT morning people...

Surgeon General's Warning: This 40 second mind-blowing poetry experience is in honor of World Poetry Day and is especially for every student and youth leader who has heard me speak at a camp or a conference somewhere on God's green earth. I love you. Some things are just so important and good, you have to share it with the world. Here you go. Crank up the volume. And the irony? I AM a morning person.

I'm Not a Morning Person
A poetry recitation by Bill Allison

I woke up early one morning, the earth lay cool and still.
When suddenly, a tiny bird perched on my window sill.

He sang a song so carefree, so lovely and so gay,
that slowly all my troubles began to drift away.

He sang of far off places, of laughter and of fun.
It seemed his very trilling brought up the morning sun.

I stirred beneath the covers and crept slowly out of bed.
and gently lowered the window and crushed his little head.

I'm not a morning person.

Bonus: Here's my 40 second recitation of the above poem.

And if that little poetic ditty I did wasn't enough goodness for you, then please enjoy this....

Thanks for stopping by to share that weird and wild intersection of junior high humor AND poetry.
